Tidying Up

It feels like things getting kinda real lately, and it's high time to tidy up around here a bit. I've changed the name of our blog from A Bookstore In Brooklyn to Greenlight Bookstore Blog - this is the redirect for greenlightbookstore.com, which will eventually be our bookstore website, so I thought it made sense to make that clear. I've added an "About Us" to summarize our project up top. I changed the color scheme, as you might have noticed. And I updated all the press coverage we've gotten over the past year and a half, from the PowerUp competition to the Fort Greene Association relationship to the wonderful party in September. Click through there if you'd like to see some of the things journalists and bloggers have said about us.

And let me know if you have ideas for other stuff we should be including here or on our Facebook page. Rebecca and I think of these tools as the beginning of what we'll want to do once the store is open: ways of connecting to readers and customers. Hope you enjoy!

  1. hi there,

I just wanted to mention a potential retail spot. A guy who lives down the street from me owns the new rehabbed bldg on Dekalb and V-bilt that he's turned into a bar.

I just ran into him this morning, and he told me that the upstairs floor-through is 1600 sq ft. (The bldg is very old and hence there is no backyard to speak of, which makes for especially large floor-throughs)

Now, ordinarily, I would never recommend that any retail be on the 2nd floor of anything, but right above a very active bar might actually be kind of perfect (and potentially cultivate a whole new sphere of book nerds), assuming you aren't going to be open until 3AM. And its such a great location in the middle of the 2 ends of Fort Greene/CH.

I don't even know if this place is for rent yet, but I thought I'd alert you to it. If you're interested, let me know and I can get you in touch with him. My email is:

    luffaren at mac dot com

either way, I can't wait until you land somewhere, anywhere. THANKS for working on this. I've been wondering for over 10 yrs why we didn't have one here.
